Namibia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world…untouched, untamed and simply amazing, Namibia is all about the landscapes. It’s alien-like terrain will make you think of Mars or the moon. Expect massive dunes, remote valleys and huge gorges.
Namibia’s deserts are home to some amazingly resilient animals adapted for survival. There are elephants with longer trunks to dig deeper for water, rhinos with longer horns to forage better and even lions that feed on seals.
Namibia is the perfect place to switch off and do a digital detox! Just enjoy the open road, take in the landscapes and reconnect with nature. Bring your sense of adventure to this unique country and join us!
Upon arrival we will be transferred to the City of Windhoek. After checking in at our hotel we will have a small break to relax and then be taken on a City/township tour to explore the cultural diversity Namibia has. The afternoon is free. Dinner will be served at one of the local restaurants. Day tour and lodging provided. Meals on your own.
We will be collected from our hotel between 8h30 and 9h00 to begin our journey towards the Namib Desert. We will have a light lunch along the way and arrive early afternoon at our lodge. If time permits there will be optional activities for the sunset afternoon drives. Dinner will be at the lodge. From the Park entrance at Sesriem which takes us into the Sossusvlei area (the highest sand dunes in the world – and they are red!), it will take about 20 minutes on a dirt road to reach our hotel, an oasis in the middle of the desert. This is one of the places in the world to view the night sky for spectacular stargazing. Ground transportation and lodging included. Breakfast and lunch on your own; dinner and all meals in the Namib included while we are there.
We have a predawn start for a full day excursion into the Namib Naukluft park to visit different sites of interest within the park. The Namib-Naukluft Park is a national park encompassing part of the Namib Desert and the Naukluft mountain range. With an overall area of 30,924² sq. miles, the Namib-Naukluft is the largest game park in Africa and the fourth largest in the world. We will see some different animals here than we did in Botswana, for instance, my favorite the gemsbok (oryx). And, we may also see leopard, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, spring buck, bat eared fox and many more. Dinner will be at the lodge. Day excursion, meals, and lodging included.
Today we can explore more of the areas that most capture our interest here in the Namib. We may go hot air ballooning, or swim in some desert pools, or go for a hike. It’s a day to relax and enjoy this special place. Day activities on your own. Meals and lodging provided.
After breakfast, we will depart for Swakopmund, an historic German town on the Atlantic coast. If time permits the afternoon will be opened for optional activities and those who want to rest can take it easy or explore the town. Lodging and dinner included; other meals and optional activities on your own.
Today is set aside for complete rest or more optional activities – we will have a completely different kind of wildlife here than what we experienced in landlocked Botswana, and in the Namib Desert: dolphins & whales! Lodging and dinner included; other meals and optional activities on your own.
After breakfast, we travel back to Windhoek to catch our flights in the late afternoon. Meals on your own. Ground transport included.
